"Getting on together - virtual drama for education in cultural sensitivity"
The EU FP7 project eCute (Education in Cultural Understanding Technologically-Enhanced) has been investigating the use of intelligent virtual agents and virtual drama to develop education in cultural sensitivity. This talk presents the theoretical background and its development into two showcases: MIXER, for 9-11 years olds, and Traveller, for young adults. Both apply novel interaction modalities: an icon-based language on a tablet for MIXER, and gestural-based Kinect interaction for Traveller. We discuss preliminary evaluation results for MIXER and demo the Traveller showcase.
